DIETING IS ALL ABOUT DEPRIVATION !

  • You deprive yourself of food you actually like
  • You're constantly counting calories or points
  • You constantly feel guilty when you "break out"

There is on old and very true saying which goes like this - "What you focus on becomes bigger". So if you're focussing on food all the time - it just becomes a bigger issue, a bigger problem!

Now you may know all of that, but here's something you may not realise - dieting can actually lower your metabolic rate, making it more difficult to burn fat in the future.

Unfortunately, in most cases, once you start a diet (and eat less), your body automatically lowers your metabolism. The longer you stay on the diet, the lower your metabolism gets. When you stop dieting and eat normal amounts of food again, you gain weight because your ability to burn fat has been decreased. And so you gain weight, possibly even more than you had lost in the first place. And worse still, with your metabolic rate lowered, you are more likely to gain weight in the future.

So, in light of that, dieting doesn't really make much sense, does it?

HABIT-BASED EATING vs. EMOTIONAL EATING

Most people fall into one or the other of these broad categories. Which one are you - a habit-based overeater, or an emotional overeater? If you have gained weight fairly recently, then you may be a habit-based overeater, whereas if you have had a long-term problem with your weight and you find that you overeat when under stress, when you're bored or because of early childhood conditioning, and if you yo-yo diet, then you may be an emotional overeater. Emotional overeaters may find they also have problems with poor self-image, low self confidence, low self-esteem, relationship problems, etc.

  • Habit-based Overeating can normally be resolved in one or two sessions
  • Emotional Overeating can take 8 - 12 sessions to find and resolve the "root cause" of the problem
