Hypnotherapy helps by finding the root cause of that stress or anxiety and resolving it naturally and by teaching you deep relaxation and natural, drug-free pain reduction techniques
What Causes Fibromyalgia?
Here’s where doctors differ. Officially the cause is unknown. Recent research may indicate that people with fibromyalgia process pain differently because of an increased level of cerebrospinal fluid which helps transmit pain messages. Other research points to a lack of deep sleep – that stage of sleep which is vital for the body’s repair and restore functions. Perhaps the biggest and most fundamental question doctors have not yet been able to answer is what is the root cause of the problem.
A common link that I have noticed with many of my chronic pain clients is that they all seem to have prolonged periods of heightened stress or anxiety earlier in their life. Examples would be a mother dying when a child is very young and suddenly not being cared for in the same way as the child would have been looked after by the mother. Another could be being brought up in a household where there is constant anxiety or a feeling of a lack of safety – for example if one or both of the parents has an alcohol problem.
I am not claiming that this is true of every case but it does appear to be a common thread that would be worth investigating more thoroughly. I would speculate that this prolonged period of stress causes changes in the level of certain brain chemicals which never seem to readjust after the thing that has caused the stress or anxiety has passed.
What Are The Symptoms Of Fibromyalgia?
The most common symptoms are
- Pain – pain is mainly experienced in muscles and ligaments and is usually worse in the morningtime
- Fatigue – similar to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and ranges from mild to severe.
- Lack Of Concentration – inability to concentrate and perhaps even memory loss.
Effective Treatment With Hypnotherapy

In many cases, it may be possible to significantly and permanently reduce pain and discomfort by increasing you natural dopamine levels in your brain through re-programming your thought processes.
