What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is simply a state of deep relaxation and you will be able to hear everything that is being suggested.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
Yes. In fact, most people experience hypnosis a number of times each day (eg. daydreaming, reading an engrossing book, while driving “on automatic”, etc.)
Can I be made to do something against my will?
No, absolutely not. Anything suggested to you while in hypnosis which is contrary to your morals, ethics, wants or desires will be rejected.
Can I become “stuck” in hypnosis?
This is a very common fear that people have of hypnosis and the answer is “No”. In the entire history of hypnosis, there has never been a documented case of anyone becoming stuck in hypnosis.
Is it like stage hypnosis where people do silly things?
Hypnosis as used by a competent and qualified therapist bears no resemblance to anything you would ever have seen in a stage show. Remember, a stage show is only concerned with entertaining the audience and to that end, the more sensational it appears, the more successful the show will be.
How many sessions will I need?
The amount of sessions required varies from person to person, but as a rough guide, simpler problems like smoking, nailbiting, etc. can usually be successfully overcome in just one session, to a maximum of four sessions. More deep-rooted nervous disorders, such as depression, panic attacks, etc., can take between eight to twelve sessions (normally a one-hour session once a week). As part of our professional code of ethics, we are obliged to discharge a client from therapy at the earliest possible juncture once we are satisfied that the problem has been addressed in full.
